Brainerd Lakes Area Candidate Forums Prior To Election

In an effort to inform the public, here is a list of upcoming Candidate Forums and events to help area residents make informed decisions at the polls in November:  (as of 9/12/22)

 

The Brainerd Lakes Chamber, is partnering with the League of Women Voters to host a 2022 Brainerd and Baxter City Council & Mayoral Candidate Forum on Mon. Sept. 12th from 6:00-8:00 at the Brainerd Police Station on E. River Road in Brainerd.  All residents within the cities of Brainerd and Baxter are encouraged to attend and learn more about the candidates in order to make informed votes on Election Day in November.  Learn more online at BrainerdLakesChamber.com.

The Brainerd Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the League of Women Voters to host a 2022 Crow Wing County Commissioner and Sheriff Candidate Forum on Tues. Sept. 13th from 6:00-8:00 at the Crow Wing County Land Services Building in Brainerd. All residents of Crow Wing County are encouraged to attend and learn more about the candidates so that you can make informed votes on Election Day in November.  Visit BrainerdLakesChamber.com for more information.

The Nisswa Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the Brainerd Chamber and the League of Women Voters to host a 2022 Nisswa City Council and Mayoral Candidate Forum on Thurs. Sept. 15th at the Nisswa Community Center from 6:30-8:00pm.  All residents within the City of Nisswa are encouraged to attend and learn more about the candidates so that you can make informed votes on Election Day in November.  Learn more at Nisswa.com  or BrianerdLakesChamber.com .

The League of Women Voters is partnering with the Brainerd Chamber of Commerce to host a 2022 Brainerd School Board Candidate Forum on Tues. Sept. 20th at Forestview Middle School in Baxter from 6:00-8:00pm. All residents of ISD 181 are encouraged to attend and learn more about the candidates so that you can make informed votes on Election Day in November.  For more information, visit  BrainerdLakesChamber.com. 

The League of Women Voters of the Brainerd Lakes Area will host its September Program entitled, “ELECTIONS:  How They Work and Are They Secure” on Thurs. Sept. 22nd at the Brainerd Public Library.  The presentation will feature Deb Erickson, Crow Wing County Administrative Services Director, who is also one of THE MOST knowledgeable people in Minnesota when it comes to the “nuts and bolts” of an election.  Social hour starts at 5:00.  The speaker will start at 5:30.  Refreshments will be provided.

Early/Absentee Voting for the November 8th General Election will start on Fri. Sept. 23rd.  Voters who wish to vote early may go to the Historic Crow Wing County Courthouse in Brainerd during regular business hours. CWC residents can vote by absentee ballot in person at the Elections Office on the second floor from 8:00-5:00 Monday through Friday.  Voters can also visit MNVotes.org  to apply for an absentee ballot, find their polling place, check their registration statue and view a sample ballot for their precinct.  For more info, call the Elections office at 218-824-1051.

The Brainerd Lakes Chamber will host a Candidate Forum on Thurs. Oct. 6th from 6:00-8:00 at Eagle View Elementary School in Breezy Point to learn more about the candidates running for Breezy Point City Council and Pequot Lakes School Board.  This is a great opportunity to hear from each person and make an informed choice at the polls in November.  Pre-registration is NOT required.  Learn more online at BrainerdLakesChamber.com .

Please join the Brainerd Lakes Chamber at Madden’s On Gull Lake for its 2022 US Congressional Debate with Pete Stauber & Jennifer Schultz on Mon. Oct. 24th from 6:30-8:30.  This is a special opportunity to hear from each candidate and make an informed decision at the polls.  A neutral moderator will ask issue-based questions to the candidates with timed responses.  Attendees will have the chance to submit written questions for the candidates.  Advance registration is NOT required.  The event will be streamed live on Facebook.  Visit BrainerdLakesChamber.com for more info.
